The night
A wedding at State Savings Bank in downtown Detroit on June 27, 2026: marble, columns, and a lot of guests who had traveled to be there. Mammoth ran a portrait studio for the reception.
How it was set up
A Mammoth photographer shot with Photo Capture. Each guest or group went into a Sessions session with their phone number, so their portraits went to them.
The numbers
639 photos between 6:22 PM and 11:42 PM, across 72 sessions. 74 guests were added, and 61 of them got a text that our SMS provider accepted that night.
Since then, the gallery has logged 188 photo downloads.
What broke
Adding a guest broke that night. A change we’d shipped the week before, meant to make adding a guest instant, could leave a guest unlinked from their session, and at worst showed an error instead of adding them.
We put back the older, slower version that worked, the same day, and added a test that fails if it ever breaks that way again.
