NASCAR San Diego: roaming portraits in the VIP club
At NASCAR’s San Diego weekend at Naval Base Coronado, Bill shot roaming portraits in the VIP club, and guests got their photos by text through BrandStudio.

The day
NASCAR’s San Diego weekend ran at Naval Base Coronado on June 21, 2026. Mammoth brought two Portrait Booths for fans, one in each of two helicopter hangars, and Bill shot roaming portraits of the guests in NASCAR’s VIP club.
This post is about the VIP club. That’s the part of the day the BrandStudio event holds, so the booth numbers aren’t in it.
How it was set up
The event ran Photo Capture, and every group Bill shot became a Sessions session with a phone number attached. Their photos went to them and nobody else.
What guests got
A text from Messaging with a link to their photos, in a Galleries gallery under NASCAR’s name. The gallery is still public.
The numbers
321 photos, 117 sessions and 115 guests in one day. 113 of those guests got a text that our SMS provider accepted that day.
Since then, the gallery has logged 391 page views and 142 photo downloads.
What we changed after
Adding a guest’s number worked at NASCAR, but it was slow. Right after, we rewrote it to be instant. That rewrite broke at the very next event, a wedding six days later, and we put the slower, working version back the same day.
Fast isn’t a fix if it drops a guest. There’s now a test that fails if adding a guest ever breaks that way again.
