My Photos Didn't Match (or Wrong Photos Matched)
Face match is good, not perfect. Here's what to do when it misses.
For guests: no photos matched1. Try a clearer selfie — face the camera straight on, good lighting, no sunglasses or hat. Phone cameras work best.
2. Try contact lookup instead — enter the email or phone you used to register. If you're in the guest list, you'll get your gallery link regardless of face match.
3. No photos may exist yet — galleries update in real-time. Check back in 15 minutes if the event is still in progress.
4. Different event — make sure you're on the right event's Find My Photos page.
For guests: wrong photos matchedIf you see photos that aren't you, tap the photo and select 'Not me'. We'll remove the match and learn from it.
For operators: how face match worksWe use a confidence threshold of 0.35 (out of 1.0). Lower = stricter match, fewer false positives but more misses. Higher = more lenient, more matches but more wrong ones. The default works for ~95% of events.
For operators: review face matches1. Open your event → Faces tab
2. Filter by status: detected / identified / confirmed / rejected
3. Confirm or reject auto-matches in bulk
For operators: tune for an eventIf an event has lots of misses, you can raise the threshold (more lenient) in Event Settings → Face Recognition → Advanced. Default 0.35 is right for most. Don't go below 0.30 without checking — false positives feel worse than misses.
Why this happensFace match works on geometry, not appearance. Photos with sunglasses, masks, side angles, or low resolution (under 1280x1280) may not produce a usable embedding. We need at least one clear face (15+ pixels wide) to match.
