Common questions
Which badge formats does the scanner read?
QR codes and most 1D barcodes (Code 128, Code 39, EAN, UPC). If your badges encode an attendee ID that matches a row in your uploaded guest list, the scan pulls in name, email, company, and any custom fields you configured. If the badge carries vCard-style data inline, we parse that directly.
What happens if a badge does not scan or the guest lost theirs?
Tap the manual-entry fallback — photographers can look up a guest by name or email from the same screen, or type in new details. The scan is a speed optimization; missing a badge never blocks capture. Every guest still gets tagged and receives their photos.
Does badge scanning work with our existing conference registration platform?
If you can export a CSV of attendees with IDs that match what is printed on badges, yes. Upload the list to the event before doors open. Common platforms like Cvent, Bizzabo, and Swoogo export this shape by default. We do not yet connect directly to those platforms.
Can I use badge scanner on an iPad instead of iPhone?
Yes. Badge Scanner runs on any iOS device with a rear camera. iPhones are more common in the field because they are faster to hand off between photographers, but iPads work for booth setups where the scanner lives at a check-in desk. Same experience, same data flow.
