Scan Badges with No Wi-Fi

Expo halls are where Wi-Fi goes to die — so badge scanning is built to run without it.

How it worksWith the roster synced to the device (see Sync the Attendee Roster Before Doors), badges match on the device itself — no network round-trip. Scans stay instant with zero bars.

What the scanner readsQR codes, barcodes (Code 128, Code 39, and other common 1D formats), and vCard badges.

What happens to offline scansScans and check-ins queue on the device. The moment a connection returns, everything syncs to the cloud — check-in records first, then any guest texts that were waiting go out.

When a badge won’t scanSmudged badge, bad print, cracked lamination — the matcher falls back through six tiers: badge code, platform ID, guest code, email, phone, and finally a fuzzy name match. Staff can also search the roster by name and tap to confirm.

Best practiceTest one badge scan the day before — one real badge from the venue confirms the format end to end.Configure Badge Scanner
