Slideshow Setup: Display Screens and Web Embeds

A live slideshow shows new photos as they're uploaded — perfect for lobby TVs, sponsor screens, and social media displays.

Two ways to run one
1. Web slideshow (any browser) — this is the answer for every screen.
Grab the slideshow URL from your event:
- app.brandstudiohq.com/{brand}/{event-slug}/slideshow
- Or with a custom domain: photos.yourdomain.com/{event-slug}/slideshow

Open it in any modern browser on the display device — a laptop feeding the projector, a digital signage player, a stick PC behind a monitor. Press F11 for fullscreen.

2. Embed in a webpageFor sponsor sites or event microsites, drop an iframe pointing at the slideshow URL with ?embed=1 appended.

Per-event configurationEvent Settings → Slideshow:
- Transition style — fade, slide, or instant
- Delay between photos — 3 to 15 seconds
- Logo placement — corners or center
- Background color — match your brand
- Show captions — guest name, session, photographer
- Consent filter — hide photos from guests who opted out

Real-time updatesSlideshows subscribe to a WebSocket channel for the event. New photos appear within 1-2 seconds of upload. If the connection drops, it auto-reconnects.

Performance tips- Use a wired ethernet connection for venue displays
- A modest browser device is fine — slideshows are lightweight
- Restart the slideshow once per day for multi-day events to free memory

Driving an Apple TV screentvOS has no web browser, so the slideshow can't run from a URL on an Apple TV itself. Put a browser-capable box in front of that screen instead — a laptop, a stick PC, or a signage player running method 1 above.

Appendix — Apple TV native app (shelved, not a current option)
*A native tvOS app, BrandStudio Display, was built but is not on the App Store and is not on the roadmap. It is not available to order, install, or schedule. These notes are kept only as an internal record of how it worked; nothing below is something you can do today.*

*Install BrandStudio Display on the Apple TV (tvOS 17+, Apple TV 4K recommended), then pick one of two ways in:*

- *__Enter Event Code__ — type the event code on the home screen and press Start Slideshow. No sign-in, so a configured Apple TV can be handed to a venue without handing over the account.*
- *__Sign In__ — sign in once and choose the event from the list.*

*It then fills the screen and runs unattended. Photos arrive live; if the network blips, the app reconnects and back-fills the photos it missed.*

*On the Siri Remote: play/pause holds the current photo, left and right step between photos, and Menu exits. The app remembers the last event code, so a power-cycled Apple TV is one click from being back on the wall ("Resume").*

*Left idle, Ambient Mode takes over after the chosen timeout (5, 10, or 15 minutes) — a Ken Burns pass over the event's photos with the event branding and a clock. Any button on the remote brings it back.*Configure Slideshow
